omc starter question

i have a 79 larson, that i got with no motor, i have installed a new chev v8, im am looking for info on the wiring on the starter...ive got the large lug that has a large red, and a large yellow/red and a large wire direct to the battery switch,,,,,,,, where does the smaller yellow red and the smaller purple go... right now have them both on the smaller right terminal, one has to goe on the left correct??.......cant find any schematics, thanks, oh the motor turns and fires but wont stay running when i turn the key back

The purple wire is for the start terminal. That is usually the left side of the solenoid marked with an S. The yellow/red wire is for the ignition, right side. Usually marked with an I. There is a link somewhere,possibly in the electrics section with complete diagram and pictures.
