Hey guys. I have a few question about some issues I'm having and hoping you guys can help. First off I have a 20ft 1980 Galaxy with a 120hp motor. I replaced the starter last year and put a brand new in. Last month I took it out and all I got was a "click" when I tried starting it. Got it started with a screwdriver by bypassing the..ok no biggie, I thought the solenoid was bad. I bought a new starter...put that one...same thing...click. Frustrated but determined, The clicking was actually comming fron the starter assist /solenoid. Replaced that solenoid. Tried starting it. Same thing!!!!!. So then I thought I bought a new starter with a bad solenoid. Took it back off and had it tested. It was ok. The battery is showing a full charge also. I am clueless as to what I need to check. I also checked all of the grounds as well. I dont think its related but my tilt for the out quit working about the same time...please help. Thank you!!!

Re: OMC Starting issues

one of a bunch of videos on how to check voltage drops on a starter circuit:

the other method is to replace parts one at a time, and that rarely works out well as you know.

you have a bad connection, cable, or component, and when your multimeter shows the major portion of your 12V total drop, you'll know exactly where

the testing is even easier when you have such a bad connection that it isn't even cranking, cuz your helper only needs to sit quietly and hold the key in the crank position while you move the meter probes
