Great work DH! Indeed, with the drive off you should be able to literally twirl that steering wheel. The shaft itself may be a small part of any resistance but I contend the majority of it is in the cableways. Good that you will be able to fix things up economically, but the real measurement of final value will be your enjoyment.

Once you get everything in shape and stay up with it, IMHO, the Stringer is far and away more enjoyable that the rube goldberg mercruisers.

Thanks boomyal. My father and his fiance just bought a nice littlehouseboat on our local lake. My wife and kids plan on spending a ton of time on it this summer so yes we will absolutely get our moneys worth out of our new boat. Im going to start a new thread about getting the bearing, gear, and shaft out of the bearing housing. Feel free to drop on by. Lol. Thanks again.
