So we all know my stern drive is a High Profile Electric Shift but I have Model # and Serial # and wanted to know what Impeller this drive uses.

Previously I was provided a link to search my year but even with boat being 1972 I don't really think the drive is that year and having troubles locating parts.

OMC are hard to find parts lol but I know someone here can help identify it and provide a link to direct fit impeller please?!

Model # 981231
Serial # 12AP

Above information I found on tag located on starboard side of stern drive.

Any info will help a lot.

Go HERE and click on parts / select "STERN DRIVE" in the drop down, and navigate to your year and HP. Once you get there, you need the number off of your engine (not the stern drive itself). Mine's located on the starboard side of the engine, on a tag:

You'll find that listing on the site, and there should be an impeller kit for ya'.

So on the block of motor inside boat or the housing attached to block? I'm curious because my engine inside boat may be different then what was originally installed. If this sterndrive is matted to a other then orginal inboard motor then things won't be exact fit?

You can see mine on the bracket arm just behind the hose (almost center of the photo), but that's on the inline Chevy 6. Not sure where the tag would be on yours, but somewhere on the engine (mount, bracket, etc.). You can see what engines were mated to which drives HERE.

I know my intermediate housing will mate up to several different Chevy engines because of how universal the connection was ... but, I've not looked much into it because the ole' I6 is hanging in pretty tough. Not sure on the Ford blocks.

Okay I think I see yours so its on the housing mounted to block of inboard motor then? Not on the actuall inboar motor.

There's only one impeller available for OMC stringers. It fits 1968-1985 and some 1964 to 1968 units.

you can use 1980 for example, and any model and you can decide if you want the whole kit or just the impeller or whatever and it will show you prices and availability - and you can take the OEM part number and dump them into iboats parts search window to see aftermarket pricing here - GLM, Sierra, Mallory etc - your choice.

All you need is in the kit - except for some sealer for when you're closing up.
