omc stringer 1985 lower outdrive.

Hi all,
Broke my drive shaft in the lower outdrive. I was able to removed everything that the manual said. the bearing housing, the two truarc snap rings. Now the manual said to pull the prop shaft out at the same time pull the drive shaft up. Both feels loose but wont come out. Now the manual said to use a slide hammer. Before I try this, is there anything I am missing? I dont want to damage any more than it is. Do I have to watch out for anything? Why it stuck like that? Both shafts seem like it would come out because it loose but it wont. any ideas, comments, suggestions. Anything will help at this point.

And you have removed the pinion nut and gear, right?

I cant remove the pinion nut and gear because of the prop shaft is in the way. I need to remove the prop shaft first. How do I do that?
