I need some help. My OMC System Check tests repeatedly during normal engine operation. These system checks usually run just at startup but mine lately cycles through tests when I'm cruising around. Can anyone help explain this??

I appreciate any help! Thanks.

Re: OMC System Check runs when engine running normally

The system check will self test whenever there is very low voltage or if it is turned off and on again. When running, that means there is a loose or bad connection in the 12 volt circuit. The ignition system is magneto (self generating) so the motor is not affected.

If you have wing nuts on the battery, that's a no-no, replace them with lockwashers and hex nuts. Make sure all conntections are clean and secure. Sometimes having a heavy set of keys dangling from the ignition switch will wear the internal parts and the switch can be intermittent.
