Can anyone please tell me if my OMC Tacho will operate on a petrol marinised V6 Ford engine the Tacho can be switched and is marked on rear with 1 to 6 pulses per rev! would it get the signal from Distributor? Many thanks Lurcher

It might. Set the tach for 3 pulses per rev. A v6 produces three pulses per engine rev (it's a four stroke remember). However, the waveforms on the sense line are different between the two engines so the tach may or may not recognize them and the tach circuitry may actually create an ignition performance problem.

Thanks Silvertip for info, maybe my best direction is get new Smiths tacho for particular set-up or one as supplied by Faria? thank you Lurcher
