OMC temperature warning horn-Test?

How can I test my boats warning system for engine temperature? I lost an engine recenty. Possibly due to the two lower cylinders running hot. The head cover's cooling passages were clogged on these cylinders. Thanks. Bert

depending on your engine, the (I have a V4)<br />there is a tan or brown wire coming out of the head of one cylinder..<br /><br />turn on your ignition, and try putting earth to that wire.. (there is a join near the head. remove the insulation and touch it to metal).<br /><br />If its working, then the horn will sound.<br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank
