Omc tilt problems

I have a 1981 omc 800 series powered by a 3.8L gmc v6. I have rebuilt the entire boat from hull up. Now I am trying to finish it. I just installed the tilt motor and trim motor, but neither will work. The motors were both rebuilt a long time ago(boat was last in the water in 1996) so they are technically brand new. I also just put all new solenoids on the relay. When I hit the toggle switch for the tilt motor I can hear the solenoids click. When I toggle the switch for the trim motor nothing happens at all. All the wires appear to be connected in the right spot. Please help desperately trying to get this boat in the water for whatever is left of summer. Thanks

Re: Omc tilt problems

I believe both motors have 3 wires, a black ground going to the block, a blue (possibly with a white stripe) and a green, (also may have a white stripe). Blue is up, green is down. See if you have 12v on the appropriate lead when operating the switch. If not, follow back to the solenoid(s).

Does it have two 50 amp glass fuses in a rubber holder on the solenoid pack? Are they good?

Do you have the key on when you try it?

Yes the key is on and I have checked all the fuses. Tomorrow I will get a light indicator and check the leads and solenoids. Thanks
