i may be getting a 1977 searay srv240 that has a ford 351 v-8 in it
it is set up for omc drive but outdrive is gone.
since omc outdrives are so costly i was thinking of put mercuiser
drive behind this 351 ford motor.
what do you people think of this and what would i have to change
and what about gear ratios , is there any leeway there, i see 351 mercuiser has 1.7:1 would !.68:1 work i have one of them

unless you have the complete transom assy for the mercruiser ford set-up including flywheel cover, shift plate, cables, manifolds, and risers - its gonna be real hard to get that motor to connect to that drive

I think SEI makes a swap kit for that.

1977 is a Stringer drive. You have a huge hole to fill in the transom & you'll need to beef up the transom some for a Merc drive. Pretty major project & you'll be replacing *everything*. You might have some stringer work to do to.
