OMC to Volvo?

I currently own an '87 Starcraft with a 140 h.p. OMC. I saw an ad on CL for the exact same boat & it has a 140 H.P. Volvo. The guy wants $1200 for it. Can I do a swap using the Volvo? Is the cutout the same? Has anyone done this swap & what other issues am I going to run into? Thanx.

That I'm not sure of. The ad says 140 h.p. Volvo & I can't tell by the pics what the drive looks like. I know that Starcraft in that year equipped their boats with either Mercs or Cobra's but I've never seen one with a Volvo. Of course, someone could have done the swap if it's not O.E.

What year is it? Got a link to the ad?
There are a lot of people selling things that just don't have a clue what they have. They may falsely assume since it's a 4 cyl that it's a 140. It's happened on iboats many times.

The boat is an '87. The ad says powered by 140 h.p. Volvo. There's a pic of the drive taken from the rear with it trimmed up so I can't make out what it is.

I know your boat is an 87, what about the one in the ad? DO YOU HAVE A LINK TO THE AD? I may be able to tell by looking.

Thanx Don. The boat for sale is also an '87. It's a Starcraft Medalist, the exact same model as mine. I didn't post a link to the ad because u won't be able to see anything from the pics. The 1 pic of the drive was taken from a distance with it trimmed up so it's impossible to tell what he has on there. I haven't been able to contact the guy to inquire on it.

Volvo didn't use a GM 140 hp motor in 87. That is why I wanted to see a picture and see if it may have been upgraded to 94 engine and drive.
Just because you couldn't tell anything about the drive, I might be able to.
