Hey all I was looking around the forums for how to add a Faria tach to my 115 V4 without any luck. The instructions from Faria just say you may need a voltage regulator kit. No one that sells the tach has ever heard of it and Faria isn't much help either. After mucking around a bit I figured it out. For most V4 Cross flows 115 (I don't know about the 90 but I would assume the same). You need to connect the signal post to the Grey wire leaving the regulator. The battery feed to the purple wire (or a switched source) and the ground to ground of course. Set the pole setting on the back of the tach to 5. On my engine a 97 there is a terminal strip on the left side of the engine that has the gray wire about 4th wire down and the purple wire at the bottom. I have heard on older engines you may have to dig the gray wire out of the harness and tap into it. That should be it wired up and going.

Your control box should have a tach signal wire inside left there by the factory. You will find a grey wire cut off inside the box. You can pull the end of it through a small hole between the two box halves and connect it to the signal terminal on the tach. Now all you need it a ground and hot. You should set the tach at 6 for this engine to read the pulses correctly.

Thats odd because on my Tach it wouldn't read on the 6 setting. I verified the reading for the 5 setting with my dwell meter as correct. Maybe my tach is off? Anyway thats what worked for me.
