I am cleaning and putting new cab kits in my 1987 OMC V4. The OMC Shop Manual calls for the float to be 1" (+/-) 1/8" below the body when upside down. One carb had the old float at 3/4" and the other at 1 1/4". I will, of course put the new ones per the specification.

My question is what would you expect the results on operation of the motor with the floats so far out of spec.????

Re: OMC V4 Carb Float

My manual doesnt go to 84 but on most carbs
With the carb body upside down the float is approximately parallel with the carb body and
cant be below it.
Usually the larger demensions occur with the carb right side up and measure float drop. If the float didnt drop enough it would restrict fuel flow If it drops too much the needle may not work right might jam and cause flooding.
