Re: OMC valve adjustment

I think it's seamanray13 on ebay.
but him or his wife ain't cheap.

I have looked for them recently on Ebay and haven't spotted them. I purchased a manual for my Electric shift drives but now I need one for my Mechanical shift units so I just emailed them to ask about getting another manual from them.
If you want their email address PM me and I will give it to you.

Re: OMC valve adjustment

That would work if he actually had it on TDC of the COMPRESSION STROKE when he first started. If he was not on the compression stroke, all his valves would be adjusted improperly.

I am sure of the #1 compression stroke, that is definitely not the issue.

we have to be sure. that it is at tdc. Pull the valve cover, turn it by hand, and when the intake valve closes, and the timing mark comes up-tdc

Re: OMC valve adjustment

I have loosened all of the rockers so they cannot open and checked the compression, that should take the valve adjustment out of the equation right? I found 60, 90, 110, 110 psi on 1-4. So I am thinking that my new head gasket is not sealing.
I am going to start from square one and remove the manifold and head and clean it and re-install it. When I replaced it the first time I scraped the mating surfaces to remove all of the junk but I did not use any solvent to clean them or sealing compound when I put it back together. I did torque the head bolts to 100 ft/lb in the order the book says.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me this go around so that I might get it right this time?
