Does anyone know what the "S" terminal is for on an omc volt guage?Guage has terminal "1" which is switched 12v,terminal "G" which is ground,And one unmarked which is switched 12v for instrument light. My "S" terminal is unused.Volt guage is 1995.

Re: OMC volt guage

Hey OB,
I can only assume it's for Manufacturing purposes. As almost all the other Gauges(Tach, Ammeter, Fuel, Ect.) do use the send terminal, it seems to me that it would be cost efficient to manufactuer all the cases the same and just exclude the send terminal on the Voltmeters. In other words, it's just a Dummy Terminal.

Re: OMC volt guage

Rick ,reason for my question was that the one I have now when bench tested seems to read 1 volt low ,which is in yellow caution zone.If voltage source is connected to the "S" terminal and and guage is normally grounded I get higher voltage reading of 12.5 volts instead of 11 when 12 volts is applied.Trying to decide if I want to shell out 50 bucks for a new one that is more accurate hooked up the same as it was when new, excluding the "S" terminal.

OB.... I do have one new OMC volt gauge left in stock if you decide to go that route. I checked the price and found that you were right about the price. I really didn't think they hit that $50.00 figure.

If you're interested, let me know at "ReevesJ32@aol.com". I'd let this one go for $33.00 which includes shipping.

Joe ,I may be interested in buying the one you have as soon as I can possitively condemn the one I have.Does the new one you have have the "S" terminal? If so,what is it used for?

Re: OMC volt guage

OB.... I just checked my volt meter and found that it does have a "S" (sender) terminal. However, in reading through the installation brochure, there is no mention of hooking any wire to that terminal. Matter of fact, on my meter, that terminal has a long yellow hard plastic insulation cap covering it.

My assumption is that the case of the meter is also used for other type gauges such a fuel gauge which would need that sender terminal.

Bottom line.... as a volt meter, that terminal has nothing connected to it.

10-4 Joe.Sounds like Rick is probably right about those instrument cases being the same animal.Kind of strange that the one I have is hooked internally to voltage guage as I can get readings in the 6 and 12 volt input from a charger.Nevertheless there is no apparent calibration of this meter and I will need another one.I'll e-mail you soon as to buying the one you have.

Re: OMC volt guage

Joe Reeves, Got the volt guage installed this evening and was pleased to see it read 12.2 volts with the key on as opposed to 11 volts.Works good. Now I won't have to wonder if alternater is charging while underway.Even looks nicer than the one I pulled out. Thanks for being so prompt on shipping.
