OMC2.6Litre cuts out

2 stroke engine, model ICCXCOM on OMC sea drive, 1987, 400hrs on clock, runs 10 minutes then cuts out for 1 sec, votmeter drops off scale, then engine recovers. Repeats every 15 minutes for first hour then runs OK.. ..but last trip stalled after 1 hour in rough conditions. Re-started in neutral, revs sluggishly, in gear revs to 2000 rpm then dies. After 2 hours & several restarts with same result, started and ran OK. By then, in calm conditions. One of the two parallel 12V batteries tested low capacity. Oil consumption seems higher than manual suggests.

What you describe points to a "sorta" loose or corroded electrical connection - Can't help you pinpoint where though. With the SeaDrives, I would go over every one everywhere.<br /><br />I have twin 1988 SeaDrives and like them very much. I had an intermittent electrical problem with one of the trim/tilts - drove me nuts. Finally isolated it to one of the connectors.

Twin seadrives? You must be a glutton for punishment! Sorry but mine has to go. I don't know if this explains the whole problem, but I only had 5 and a half cylinders. There also appears to have been a crack in the block. Maybe its a tribute that it was going at all!! I'm looking at twin 115 Suzuki 4 strokes to replace the old gas guzzler!
