I am about to mount a dual on-board battery charger in a '90 bass boat I just bought, my question is this -

The obvious location, close to the batteries etc, is in the rear compartment which also contains the gas tank - is this safe? I assume it is since the bilge, pro-air, and aeorator pumps are all located in here, as well as the batteries, just want to make sure before I blow something up when I plug it in next to my house!

Thanks in advance for any help!

CC

Re: On Board Charger Mounting Location

There should be mounting location advice in the owners manual. Generally they tell you that it needs to be so far from the floor, so far from the top, (lid), Mounted in a direction so the air flows through the fins properly for cooling, (they do get hot). Also, make sure you have the compartment lid open when charging. "THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT"!!!

If you havnt purchased it yet, i would recommend a Guest Charger, they are a great unit, and the customer service is par excelance. They will do almost anything for you. Ive even seen them rplace a unit that a friend bought used. Now thats service.
