check amazon. I've found lots of parts there. Napa autoparts also carries Sierra replacement parts as well. Keep us posted.

I just found one on amazon.com but I don't know if it will fit my motor. It says its for johnson evinrude outboard. And it is made by sierra. Part number is 183059

Congrats on what sounds like a nice find.:)

I wanted to say thanks to jb for the good explanation on the workings also.

I have a 5.5hp Johnson on my 12' boat and I think you will be happy with that motor even if if it feels like a 7.5 as mentioned. Hopefully it's a good runner and feels like a 9.5:D

I agree that it should plane as long as the weight is evenly distributed. Good luck and let us know how the motor is doing.

The old 9.5's were made from 1964 to 1973. The following here they started the 15's and 9.9's The 9.5's were good motors, but replacing the lower mounts and exhaust gasket that jbjennings described were a big job. You may try these places, should you ever need parts for that motor.

Sea-way Marine
Engine Blade and Prop.

There is a list of salvage yards who may have the N.O.S. parts too, but they're in the top secret files, I believe. The AOMCIA website may have someone there who can likely be of help too.
