First time in three years out.

Perfect sounds in neutral, rough and bogging under load.

Not fuel, the kicker running like a champ.

Fuel filter ( that covers both motors) clear.
Carbs look spotless from above.

It was put up due to stern drive locking up from loosing to a submerged log.

If your human body ever had a good cough and cleared up ragged breathing, that's what this feels like. Timing?

We are chugging around just to burn fuel so the boy can drive a boat.


I'll check back in a bit, going to show the boy around the lake and kill a couple worms.

You say runs rough under load, is this at both high speed and slow speed?

Not a whole lot you can do on the water. I'd try verifying idle mix set correctly. Procedure for this is to turn screw inward until rpms drop due to lean condition, them turn outward until rpms drop due to rich condition, then turn inward again until maximum rpm and smoothness is achieved.

My manual (for my omc) would have me checking timing, spark plugs, spark plug leads, or defective points. After that it has me going over the carburetor. I'm ignoring the bits about checking the fuel system because you're pretty sure that stuff is good.good luck, enjoy your day out with your boy

3 years with same fuel in tank is a no-no! Even adding good into old sucks. Drain completely, including inline and water separators. I've owned 6 MC V8s and all carbureted. I don't know s about FI. However, some tanks even have a filter or screen inside pickup tube. That is a start!

Does it happen with just one motor or only when doing both motors?

kicker is a 4 stroke Nissan / Tohatsu 2 cyl 15 hp and run off same tank. Same water separator. It runs fine at high speed/RPM's. big motor is 260 5.7 chevy.

Hadn't thought about the carb prefilter. I'll check that.

even run dry? Not to get flamed, ut I've had respectable success with seafoam over the years. Think that would do it? I typically double the recipe on the can and run til fuel basically empty.

Only what I couldn't siphon out, and it was stabilized when put up. Then high octane fillup. The kicker runs WOT just fine.

To your issue, sounds like a rod, spun bearing
