well I'd say that depends on the charger...... two options I see..... check with the manufacturer or plug it in and see if you gradully get more or less lights...... If I had to guess tho I'd say more lights more charged

My Guest 2611 has a red light when charging that switches to green when in 'maintenance' mode.

Re: Onboard Charger Have Questions

The PO had both batteries unhooked. I was asking my son inlaw about it and he said more lights more charged. then he brings up another question. He said most people don't use the onboard charger on the engine starter battery.
I only have 2 batteries one for trolling motor and one for starting. Will it hurt anything to have charger connected to the starter battery. Don't want to burn something up on the engine. Cub

shouldn't hurt but generally it's the trolling batt that needs charged

A lot of fishermen have on board chargers hooked to their starting battery too. Simply because they never run the big motor long enough to keep it charged. It makes for good insurance to be sure its always fully charged.

Re: Onboard Charger Have Questions

I have a bass boat with a three bank charger on it, one for the cranking battery and two for the trolling motor batteries. When my boat is not in use they stay on the charger. Red light comes on when i plug it in and green light comes on when all three batteries are toped off and it goes into maintain mode.

Thanks Guys I am just wanting to fix everything and have it right when I am done I pulled the water pump off today going to replace it. look good but i don't know how long it's been in. Battery compartment will be next to clean and replace one with a bigger one and connect the charger up and check the output to the batteries. Thanks Cub
