alright i have fixed my trim and added the switch to steering .
i have a three wire system the up motion runs through a selinoid
but the down motion is straight from the switch
making the downward draw through switch.
my boat mech told me to add selnoid and run the down motion
through a selinoid and or relay so that motor going down will run off relay insted of switch reducing amp draw and giveing extra speed to down position
my question is what type relay can i use theres not enough room in my
3 wire box for another selinoid ,what size relay should i be looking for
20 amp o15 amp or should i get one of the newer style relays and use it in my three wire box it will fit ,any thouhts on this please speak up
its sounds like a sensable thing to do. the newer trims fun two relays
thanks

Does make sense.
But I don't think down draws as much as up.No load. What is the switch rated for?
Down is probably just emptying the cylinders.

Re: one for the gurus trim tilt.question

I used two brake light relays for Harley Davidson Motorcycles for my relays. Ordered them from drag specialties for about 10.00 each and fastened them to the starboard side of the motor under the hood. They have worked great for the last year or so. It does keep the current draw lower that way.

thanks guys the down on the outboard doesnt use as much amp draw there for they run it without relay selinoid in my case, three wire
so voltage for the down side is run off switch running it to relay helps with amp draw and speeds up down ward motion that what my outboard guy says
he been fixing them almost as long as i have been around i will give it a try
