Guys this has me stumped. I've spent literally hours trying to figure out where on my 1995 150 the temperature sensor for the dash water temperature gauge is located.

So far I've found the SLOW temperature sensors and the overheat sensor but the sensor for the gauge is friggin eluding me. I have an OEM manual for my year engine (J150EXEOM) and I still cant find it, in fact I cant find mention of it!

PLEASE HELP!

Re: One for the REAL EXPERTS!

That's because the temp gauge doesn't come as a standard gauge on the motor from the factory.

When you buy a temp gauge the sender screws into the threaded hole on the 60* looper cylinder head. The hole with the plug is for the water pressure gauge fitting, the threaded hole is for the temp gauge sender. Either head, doesn't matter.

On a crossflow you use the same sender and that "L" bracket under a water jacket bolt.

So I've been chasing my tail. On my motor the sensor that's installed has tan wire running from it into the cowl and wire bundle. I've read that a tan wire is the VRO and overheat alarms.

Can I short it out to verify it's the gauge?

The senders under the cap that screws into the head are for the horn and Quick Start. There are no senders on the motor from the factory for a gauge. That sender comes with the gauge kit. That sender itself screws into the open threaded hole in the cylinder head.
