One gas gauge always reads empty

We just purchased a 2000 Sprint 277 Pro Tournament last week. When the gas gauge is on Port side it reads fine but when switched to starboard side it shows empty but you can see the gas in the tank so we know its almost full. We are fairly new to this and if someone could suggest what we might need to check or look for we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

The problem is one of three things. 1) the sender in the fuel tank, 2) the gauge, or 3) wiring between the two. Heres the diagram.

Sender resistance measures 33 - 240 ohms as you raise and lower the arm. Wire must be disconnected.

Check the "selector" switch as well. Make sure one of the wires didn't get disconnected somehow.

Also could be a bad switch. Swap the wires on the back and see of the problem follows.
