One more question...Prop pitch?

Need some help. We do a lot of tubing and towing with our boat. Looking for faster acceleration. Would you go with a 17 pitch prop or 19?

No one can answer that as written. Need to know exactly what prop you have now, what's the RPM and GPS speed of the boat with current prop, how does it behave when pulling a skier/wakeboard/tube now, what type hull, which engine, how much does the boat weigh? Etcetera. The devil's in the details. The more details you know, the closer the answer will be. The fewer details, the closer the answer gets to being a WAG.

A 17 will accelerate faster as it puts less load on the engine, it also raises the max RPM, which could be detrimental to the longevity of your engine. More info is needed to give a proper answer

I’m with Rick, lots of factors involved, but if you are looking for power “out of the hole” to get people up you will want to lower the pitch. Good guess would be to drop by 2”. Your rpm should increase by about 200/inch. Your top end will probably drop a bit. Watch that you do not exceed the recommended WOT rpm. A four blade prop will also give you an advantage over a three blade for acceleration.

Go to a prop sale website, including iBoats. The all have prop sizing apps. Assuming your boat's builder wasn't stretching that 3.0L in a too heavy/long boat, the apps. will put you close. All the advice above will help you tune it in.

To have the most water fun while tubbing at speed you need to dial a prop for engine to rev at its max wot rpm range factory stated with only a driver, a spotter and tubber for faster combo hole shot or be on the way much faster, the rest of extra passengers that can load the combo along lowering the wot rpm badly can stay at terra firme zipping cold ones LOL!!

Ideal is not to mix both scenarios at same time, that's cruising, speeding and pulling water toys at back transom, adds to much water drag and slows combo dowm, worse if engine is underpowered.

Happy Boating

I'd go with a 17", but only if it didn't allow my engine to rev higher than the mfg. suggested max. rpm.
