Well, after I crashed the camrey I put it in the wantad for sale. The first person come to see it today at my school, he bought it on spot for my full asking price. This really made my day, he's picking it up tomorrow afternoon at school. After the guy left, I was in a great mood for the whole rest of the day. I had a great time in shop waiting for the bell to ring. Well, now school is out, and I gotta go to work. I like to get to work as soon as I can when school gets out, I usually drive quickly, well, today I got a little carried away. I jump in the camrey, put all the windows down, turn up the radio and start hauling *** to work. I go down this road with a lot of tight turns, its just been re-paved so its nice and smooth. The speed limit is 20 mph, I always thought it was at least 30, but I was wrong. Well, I come flying along doing a cool 43 mph I look over, and their is the cop with the radar right on me. I knew I was getting pinched right away, he didn't even have to put the lights on, I whipped my seat belt on and pulled right over to him :p He was pretty mad, yelled at my for going more then twice the speed limit, took my license and registration, then asked where I was going in such a hurry, I told him I was going to work and wanted to made it by 2:30 to get the extra half hour in. I told him he got me, I was 100% wrong and no question I was speeding, and I was sorry. He then asks me where I work, I tell him the name of the body shop I work for. He smiles and walks to his car, and he's out in like two minuets flat, now I know I'm all set.
he gets back the window, gives me my papers back and says that this is the only "verbal warring" I'll ever get in his town, and the only reason is because I work for Greg and was so respectful and honest.

So,
I got off, not even a written warning on my record. That incident, along with a great date with my still "new to me" girlfriend, who I've been going out with for like a week, made for a great and real lucky day for me.

I thought I'd share that with you all,

Nice to catch a break now and then. I got one... and still have the citation. All I got was a speeding ticket for going 130 in a 50 zone.

Young and dumb... over 20 years ago now...
400 hp in a Vega hatchback

"God" was watching over you...If left to some of the members of this forum though....You would be crucified.....I hope that your episode will make you act in a more careful manner....I would hate to see a promising life be ruined by a stupid mistake....Slow it down & drive defensibly.....For your sake as well as others....JK

Last time I got pulled over the cop let me off because he couldn't answer my question of why it would be unsafe at that particular time to be going 68 on a highway. :)

Had he known I was doing 95 1/4 mile earlier it may have been a different story. :D

"Do you know how fast you were going?"
"How fast did you think I was going?"

Ryan,

Slow down.

You creamed a mailbox.

You trashed the camry.

And you're still doubling the speed limit for 1/2 hour of pay?

I don't know about the majority here, but me personally, I'm done giving advice. Have a nice time, I just hope you don't get put up for vehicular homicide next time.

The only advice I have would be to your insurance company, And that would be "Get out while you still can".

You are a disaster waiting to happen, Ryan.

The cop may have bought the notion that you were sorry, but I don't. All the evidence contradicts it.

That’s why your age group pays the highest insurance rates. Which BTW drive every body else’s rates up too, thank you very much.  Was young and stupid myself so I know preaching at ya is like talking to a rock. See above post.

Ryan, Glad you cought a break....

It really is worth slowing down, But, living in the semi-stix where I am, very often I'm on a back road, 5 miles of strait away, where the dern speed limit is 35, don't even think twice abotu going 50, but almost guaranteed to get a ticket if cought.

Stay safe, but it's your decision if you want to get tickets or not.

Last time I got pulled over was 45 in 35, in my big ugly van. Pulled me over because he thought it was a rolling meth lab with the rear windows all missing and no front license plate. Once he realized I was just driving a piece of junk and wasn't a drug dealer, he let me go with no ticket

Ryan,

I hope you are checking back to read the responses here. These people are trying to talk some sense into your head. I know 45 isn't that fast, but if the speed limit is 25, there is a reason for it. You've seen the wrecks on the racetrack, and that's under controlled conditions. Anything could be around the next bend including a car full of children. It's a toss-up on what's worse. Going to jail for vehicular manslaughter, or killing yourself. Either way, you ain't gonna like it. No amount of money is worth dying or killing for.

Dan

...some roads have a speed limit for a reason

A lot of our roads are 35 because thats what non-highway speed limits are set at around these parts 15 miles of strait road with nothing but open fields.... 35mph my arse... but it's speed at the risk of your own pocket book.

My feelings: Break the laws if: They are wrong for stupid reasons and you willing to pay the price if cought.

If you knew that everyone drove as you do. I bet you would think about putting on your safety belt. And the sure way to get from A to B is not neccessarily the fastest. Besides saving life, a seat belt assists a driver of further danger by keeping him at the wheel during unforsceen circumstances. Wearing one is not a sign of weakness, its one of intellect and responsibility.

Re: One of those days, that couldn't be better!

Since I sold the camrey during lunch today, I had no wheels to get to work with, my buddy let my borrow is '91 Camaro, ram air hood and all. I knew that the car was a target, and I'd be going the same way I was yesterday. I was going UNDER 20mph, and a cop was in the same spot, it was a different guy. This dude was out of his car standing by the steet, hidden by the corner. I kid from the school was in front of me, he got a tickey for 35mph in the 20, and a seat belt ticket, I roll by in the camaro, and a kid beind me gets nailed for over 40, and gets a ticket. So looks like I was real lucky, the two kids at my school both knew what happend to me yesterday, they hate me for it LOL

Have you ever driven by a high school when they let out...after you graduated? I accidently took that route at the wrong time a few days ago...made me glad I have an air bag! The cops just love to wait around the corner with their radar guns, but that makes it even worse! Everybody already knows where the cops hide, and they just floor it once they get past!

Not cool dude....that should be the first thing you do after you shut the door. You're not a racing fan I guess. After watching a few of those wrecks.....seat belt.
Have you read this?
http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=011852 [/quote]
