One piece or two piece... Prop

I just went to purchase a new prop for a 86 Four Winns 190 Horizon, Merc 4.3L /Alpha drive. Pockets are not deep enough for a SS, so I am looking at Michigan Wheel Aluminum. 14.5-19P. I was surprised to see the XHS two piece system was the same price as the one piece.

1. Has anyone had any bad experiences with 2 piece designs or would recommend staying away from them for any reason

2. Is Michigan Wheel a good brand, or should I be looking at other brands which would be comparably priced?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: One piece or two piece... Prop

I currently use a Michigan Wheel Vortex 18" 4 blade on my Sea Ray 210 350 Mag. Gets me a better hole shot than my 3 blade Power Tech 19". I've not had any issues with it, and I'm fairly certainl that Michigan makes a decent prop. You'll see a lot on the forum regarding Solas, and I'm sure they are a great prop as well, and they have a 2 piece prop as well. It is cheaper for the dealer, as they can stock 1 19" prop that fits 5 or 6 different rigs buy stocking the inexpensive hub kit. Good marketing.
