i have no power and found out one plug is not firing. swapped plug etc.

1. how do i check the signal to the coil

2. how do i check the coil it self

im almost sure its the coil, they are sorta common on these i think. its a 1980 johnson 140. the 1 cylinder that is not firing is left side (looking at it from the back) on the bottom.

anyone have a pdf version of the manual?

thanks

Re: one plug not firing

The easy way is to switch it with one from another cylinder that you know is working. If the problem follows the coil, you found the problem

ok so i swapped the wire and it works, so its not the coil.

anyway to test the power pack? I would think its not the stator as the other three work fine. i looked for broken wires, nothing...

Re: one plug not firing

it was one bad power pack, but only 1 cyl. got a used one today and works great again.
