I was finishing winterizing my parts boat and changed the lower unit oil. Alpha gen 1. I accidentally added one extra pump of gear lube after i installed the vent plug. I figured I’d clear out the pump without thinking. Could this have damaged seals?

You're talking the little plastic lube pumps that screw in the quart bottle? If so, you could try to pump 10 or so pumps before the hose slips off the end and blows lube on your shoes.

Your fine

You must have an older alpha 1 without the remote lube reservoir. Blasphemy!!! I bet you have a car that doesn't monitor tire pressure also. You live a wild and dangerous life....

Thanks guys. I was just making sure it didn’t have water in it and that it was safe. I’m putting the entire drive system and electrical into my other big boat. My first IO boat. I’m normally an outboard guy

And yeah the little pump broke in half but still worked. I wanted to clear it out before chucking it
