After all that, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get an extra set of plugs and stash them on the boat. Hard tellin what could happen to the ones in it, when you get out on the water. Winter time and the troubles you've been fighting through could have wreaked a little havoc on them. Good Luck and keep us posted on the situation:D

After all this I kinda do want to keep it, mostly because I have a very intimate relationship with this thing. I have way too many hours working on it and plenty of money sunk into it but... the wife surprised me with a positive pregnancy test right before Christmas and said that the boat needs to go or she will remove certain parts of my anatomy and this one will be our last child. I'm sure it won't sell very fast with it being winter and all so I plan on enjoying it until it sells. I have to make up for a lot of lost time. Tomorrow morning will make all the difference though. If I get caught paddling in twenty five degree weather then the boat may get burnt to the ground in my driveway.

Well, this summer, people will be lookin for boats and it'll sell. I bet it'll sell before the baby is due. Just clean 'er all up and take it out and show people your stuff;) We're always here for ya, as friends, if we can't help you on any more boat projects.

Well there is definately another boat in the future, it will just be smaller and newer, one that I don't have to put money into. I just have to get rid of this for the time being. And don't think I won't be on Craigslist every day anyway, asking her about every boat I see.

Re: One thing after another...

Today started out pretty rough. Turns out... When the ramp looks like solid concrete, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is. It was actually 6 inches of mud with the top layer frozen. Lucky for me there was a guy with a bobcat that was about to clean the ramps off and he was able to pull me out. When I first backed up, he rolled his window down and laughed and said "I gotta see this." Well he puled me out after I completely covered the bow with mud. So I went to the ramp up the river and it was too shallow to launch but I could get the motor in deep enough to run. It ran good for a little while so I put it in gear and ran it at about 3k for about five minutes then I noticed the telltale wasn't spitting water anymore. I shut it down and it was scalding hot.:( Ipulled the boat out and the water screens were plugged with seaweed and minnows. I cleaned that stuff off and tied a 2x8 board to the side to block most of the trash and it cooled back off. I'd had enough of the 12 degree windchill so it was time to go. I will take it out again in a few more days but I go out of town for work for the next four days. So far, without actually moving, it has worked out ok.

Yea, I think a nice practical set up, would be a 14 foot aluminum boat with an old 18, 20 or 25 on it would be a pretty cost free set up. Parts are relatively cheap and easy to get and these motors are very reliable.

Yeah I'm going to be looking for a 14-16ft center console with about a 40 or 50 hp. Something thats easier to load and unload alone. Right now a 3000 lb boat is not too easy to load alone when its not running.
