So ive about had it with this boat.It loves leaking water peered!Ive replaced all bellows and sealed off the transom plate to get rid of that option and still leaks.Today i took it out and i could not see where it was coming from but i did see a steady stream coming down the transom in the very beck by the plate at the bottom.I know for sure it is not coming in at the plate on the outside.i put some powergrab around it to eliminate it.It is sealed up very good their.i was thinking maybe the manifold or what ever its called where the shutter is. but i was thinking if the shutter has put a hole in the manifold it would not be leaking off the transom.the shutter is bad but still should not come from their? any help would be good before i burn the boat lol.

Is the top of your outdrive under water or real close to being under water when the boat is sitting? If so it could be from the top pin seal on the gimble ring.

Another possability is your y-pipe, they rust out over time.

Get a camera of inspection mirror and have a look around where your head will have a problem (taking comment from Bondo)

yes it is close to under water. And what do you mean by pin seal? The bellows do not leak ive checked them. The only seal i know that is bad near the gimble is the grease seal but should not have water their.

The whole gimbal/transom assembly that bolts up against the boat transom has an inset rubber seal all the way round. After a while it flattens and leaks. That will isually end up with a rotten transom in time through water ingress. We discovered that in the refurb of my SR last year. We completely rebuilt the unit with all new bellows, but the new rubber on the back ensured it was watertight seal. We realized something was amiss, when we saw all the caulk round the gimble unit and the boat transom. Maybe that is the source of your leak. The rubber seal is about $15.00 or so. Means pulling it all, but the alternative is a rotten transom.

It is a pin shaft seal item No 4

There is next to nothing that could leak just under the drive shaft if the boot is on correctly. I'll take WAG and say it is the lip seal on the upper pin shaft and is leaking gown and may only look like it is under the shaft. Just a guess but they do corrode over time and I had to replace one my self.

I think its the bolts shown in the picture.I been water leading it to it.So i put powergrab on it too.im doing that to see where the problem is and then ill spend the money where it needs it.What is that seal or what ever called in the pic? I know im killing the transom but i have to find the problem first.I have had it out 8 times like this but not long.long enough to see where its coming from. image (3).jpg

Ok maybe i lied.I looked again and i seen a seal.so i got the mirror back out and seen water where the exhaust? goes to the plate.Like as in their is a metal line maybe 2 going to the plate.I think its like a water return so maybe water is not in the transom i hope to god lol.I have put a transducer on the rear and the wood looked grate when i drilled into it.And the next question why would it leak their and please dont tell me i have to pull the motor.

Ayuh,... The manifold for the trim lines has a gasket, maybe that's what's leakin',...

I drilled 4 holes side by side and 2 came up wet.Not to bad.Im just going to put a fan near the holes and then seal it up.Maybe it will dry out and be fine.

If water got in the wood it will not just dry out. Who knows how long it has been soaking up water.

Yep, transom mounting bolt. Maybe try to tighten it see if it makes any difference. Well, assuming you are a circus contortionist of course. The guys are right, a rotted transom may be happening.

The bolts do not typically loosen. The transom rots and gets soft and that causes the bolts to appear to have loosened. That's the typical order.
