I just hope it's not the coupler. I think that's one of the parts that's rare or impossible to find for an OMC 460 Cobra setup. Hopefully I'll get down to the boat tomorrow to check.

I heard that about the 460 as well, along with the exhaust manifolds.

Well, here I am, a month later, but finally with answers.

So as things turn out, it was a spun prop. Today I finally got to take the boat out (the wife is a royal PITA), and everything ran really great. At WOT I was at 4500rpm doing >27mph as per GPS. It was great to finally boat with some confidence. Too bad the season is over around here. I'll probably have the boat pulled this week.

At this point with all the grief this boat and my wife (who wanted a boat in the first place) have given me, I'm going to be looking to sell it. If my wife isn't willing to give us (or me) the time to spend on the boat including maintenance, it's not worth keeping. I doubt it'll sell over the winter, but come spring... well, I can hope, can't I?

If I had to make a choice between a boat and a wife..... well, you know.

Maybe now that you've fixed it and actually get a chance to use the boat she'll come around.

Do you have anything in your marriage vows that says she HAS to be on the boat with you?

I know mine states that very clearly, but maybe YOU have a loophole.

Thanks lekmedm for getting back to us. It's good to hear that you got fixed and it wasn't serious. Too often we are left wondering.
As far as fixing the wife, that's a completely different forum. You will find that many ask the questions, but very few have any answers.
