You do indeed have a fouled, clogged, gummed carburetor. The cure is to remove, clean, and rebuild it. I have no idea if the kit you have will work or not. But if not, you will be able to pick a kit up at NAPA I would think.

Fistly have you tried adjusting the slow running mixture. Pull the knob off, adust with a screw driver then refit the knob in its mid position.<br /><br />Joe is right of course, almost certainly needs the carb cleaning.<br /><br />You can check the part numbers for the rebuild kits on the Bombardier-Evinrude website where you will find exploded engine diagrams and pars lists. You will need the model number (and the year of manufacture). A 1985 model will include the year letters CO in the number.<br /><br />There seems to be a problem with the website at the moment though. I cant get the relevant bit to appear
