I have a 1962 Johnson 20hp, QD23. I pulled the motor off and was cleaning the boat when I heard a bang...the motor tipped from the hose moving. So I put it on the boat hoping everythin was fine, but its not running to well. Its spits and sputters quite a bit, and actually broke the shear bolt by the prop. Thinking it was carbs, I tried adjusting them following the online instrustion. The adjusted, but when I pull the choke out it revs up like a bat out of hell.
I pulled the carb, cleaned it with some spray, checked the float and needles. I also pulled the glass fuel bowl and fuel pump looking for anything that could cause a problem. Any thoughts?? Looks like a might be taking it in to have it all serviced...
