I'm willing to give it a try, problem I have now is that I don't get to ski that often behind the "good" boat I wish I would have got this ski before our week long trip to the lake where it would have been easier to putz around with the settings on everything a little more.

FWIW, the bindings on the blue ski are probably in the "wrong" place too. I think the way I arrived at that placement was to line them up with the bindings on my big fat KD - which was center hole on the KD - resulting in all the way back on the O'Brien.

I am somewhat surprised though that radar says that the bindings should be where they are to start and that puts it at the furthest rear position. Edit - although looking at their vector binding it probably winds up in the middle hole.

I think what I really need to do is try to get a couple hours of instruction when I'm in FL and get someone who is sitting and watching me get my stuff set up.

It looks like Radar's recommended stock setting for the 67" Senate is 29.25" from back edge of ski to back edge of front ski boot (per Chris Rossi table on another ski site). If you want to check, Radar will provide settings via phone. Enjoy.

The 29.25 is from a few years ago, 29.5 is the setting from radar for the current model. Doesn't really matter since the boot I use on the front can't go back any further than 29.5

I did check the spray on the ski as did my "coaches" and the binding placement appears to be correct, my weight distribution needed help. Get to try it out in the course again in about an hour.

I removed the wing this morning and it really did seem to make a difference in the way it felt. I was able to hit all 6 twice (28MPH @15 off). It was only my second day in the course this year so I was pretty happy with that result. With any luck I'll get to try again next Tuesday.

Does your Bayliner wake get smaller if you speed up to 32 or 34 mph? My BIL has Glastron GX180 with 150 outboard that actually skis fine for open water 22 - 28' off. 34-35 mph nice, Narrow single bump wake.

It gets sort of OK around 32+ (on the speedo - who knows what the actual speed is), single big bump at 15 off but it is pretty hard - closer to the boat would probably be a little better if I recall the way the wake looks there.

Most of the skiing I'm doing now is behind a Malibu LXI since my FIL's ski partners get harder to come by this time of year. Currently they are at nationals so we've got the course to ourself when I can make time to get out there.

I understand the LXi - I don't own one, but it's the boat I'm doing most of my skiing behind 2-5x a week.
The outboard is just an idea. More interior room. less weight, better hole shot, etc. My experience with DD (unless you're talking about early info coming out on the $60K 2014 Mastercraft) is that you have to get the speed up to get a better wake.

I think we're pretty much settled on a Moomba Outback V for our next boat. Couple years old if I can find one or new if I can't. The Bayliner of V drives

My experience with DD (unless you're talking about early info coming out on the $60K 2014 Mastercraft) is that you have to get the speed up to get a better wake.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't see a 2014 direct drive in the Mastercraft line-up.

Hey now, I have family that work at Skiers Choice -- watch it!

Ski Challenger was the Bayliner of inboards.

What I meant by that is that it is a pretty decent/basic boat for a good price.

Guys have been hinting for about a year. Now skiers have looked at it and skied it. Sounds like the biggest improvement is wakes at slower and longer. There are a few threads on BallofSpray:

I'm hoping that I get to occasionally ski behind one of those next year. My FIL's ski partner gets a new MC promo almost every year, I have a feeling the demand will be high this year.
