also a temp gun to check riser temps while running would be a good idea... in the unlikely case that you have plugged one or more passages in the riser(s) the temp gun will tell you before you overheat the exhaust

First, SS props do have hubs, unless you have a specially made prop that doesn't. I'd call that a design flaw.

Bravo 3 props are solid, but there is an internal slip clutch that can very rarely go. If that is damaged, there would be other damage in the drive also.

I've run through soft ground twice. First time tore up the impeller and caused a block overheat. Second time it went through the whole system and clogged the hose from the t-stat housing to the port exhaust manifold causing the exhaust boot to melt. It can't hurt to check over the cooling system.

A lot of worrying here over a minor event that is often part of a day's boating on the coast. Well, maybe not hitting that hard daily but we've all done it at least once.

I've done it in all 3 boats. One outboard boat, a single engine I/O and the current twin engine I/O. The bottom here is sand or soft mud, too. As HC mentioned, you cleared the cooling system on the way home. The most that happened to me is that I cleaned some barnacles off the props.

There are a lot of tourists here all summer long. They are often grounded by doing exactly what you did or more often not watching the tides. Tow Boat loves them. One day a few weeks ago as we came in the channel it came over the radio-- my friend fishing saw a couple emerge from below to find their boat 75 yards on the beach.... the tide went out. We often see boats that 'beached' to picnic or play in the water find themselves 10 yards from water. Some wait for the tide to rise, most call for a tow.

I don't see that the OP mentioned he was in a channel, though there are plenty of channels wide enough to allow for greater than headways speeds.

Very last line of the OP :fish2:
