Could you please tell me which weekender (24 - 26ft) is best for open seas as far as v-hull for rough sea.<br />Thanks

It should be interesting to see what kind of response you get. I doubt though that not many folks here have much experience with rough seas off of Cyprus. I take my 23'er off shore in Florida to the Gulf Stream on occasion but not in rough seas. If you were here my recommendation would be that any 24 - 26'er belongs in marina when the seas are rough. Here the waves can get to over 12' which is no place for any "small" boat.

stemar, you are in the middle of one of the most sailed/cruised waters in the world, I would suggest you look at other boats in the area and talk to locals. You can't beat local knowledge when it comes to sailing conditions, availability of service & parts, marina facilities etc.<br /><br />Aldo

I spent many happy times in Cyprus, based at The Royal Air Force base at Akrotiri. The main advantage is that the island is pretty small and the RAF/British presence there means that the weather forecasting from RAF Akrotiri and Olympus Radar is pretty good. So you can avoid the rough stuff with relative ease just by listening to the weather and running for it. I've done "dinghy drill" in a one man survival dinghy about 20 miles south of the island many times and just enjoyed bobbing around in some of the most beautiful water in the world. The most dangerous part of the whole thing was being winched into the rescue helicopter and landed back on the rescue launch. Enjoy your boating...

Thank you all for your replies.<br />Basically I need boat that I can spend the weekend in it in the area of Paphos(west cost) which there sometimes the sea can be really rough. So if you know of any weekender that could give me "smooth" ride please let me know.<br />Tnanks

I do not know the area but in general terms a deeper V hull will give your a smother ride under power. It will also require more power for the same speed and will burn more fuel. One other factor is when stopped a Deep V Hull will roll more than a Flater V hull.
