Opinion needed

The boat dealer call and said my boat was in last week. They shipped it with out the seats. Still waiting for seats. Should I seek some kind on compensation or just forget it? I could be out using it now, not next week.

You could buy some inexpensive seats at Walmart, when your factory seats come in you'll have a spare set. Maybe use cheap seats just for fishing?

What kind of boat? Maybe just use some folding chairs for now?

Ayuh,... Without a Contractual delivery date, you won't have a leg to stand on....

When the seats get there, the dealer will actually have the whole boat, and will be able to deliver it. Until then, he probably shouldn't have called. Unless you have a sure date for delivery in the contract, you have no cause for action.

They said 6- 8 weeks for delivery, going on 9 weeks!

So, what does the dealer say about the seats and when they will arrive?

Will the dealer go ahead with all the setup chores before the seats arrive, so all they'll have to do is install the seats?

Seems to me that you'll be best off by chatting with the dealer on this one, rather than asking us, since we have no idea what the dealer is doing.

Stuff happens. Delays happen. I'm sure your dealer want's the boat delivered as soon as he can. Has the dealer called the manufacturer? What did they say?

What kind of seats are these, anyhow? What kind of boat did you buy and what model?

It's a small Lund. They said the seats are on back order. Witch makes no since. They got the order two months ago. I would think two months would be enough time to get seats.

Yeah, but Lund doesn't make the seats themselves. I have no idea who does, but there is apparently a backlog.

As long as your dealer stays on top of it and gets those seats shipped to him as soon as they come it, that's the best you're going to be able to do.

Again, the dealer should be able to do all the setup and prep on this boat before the seats arrive. That way, once they get here, they just have to be installed and you're good.

These days, patience is needed. The boat industry and all of its suppliers have taken a heavy hit in the past couple of years. Keep checking with your dealer, but try to hold off on the angry words. It's not the dealer's fault, and there's nothing he can do to get the seats in any faster than they get here.

I know you're frustrated, but what's a guy gonna do?

Added: Get your dealer to find out if it's just the color of the seats that's holding the order back. Sometimes, stuff like that is backordered just for one color or something. They may have another color in stock...I dunno.

I been over nice to the dealer it's not his fault. I guess they are getting to be like any other company. I'll sit back and wait. I'll do my fishing from the bank.
