I have a 1978 16ft Galaxy (Model # APO91M78E)with 1986 ,i think,(model# J11OTLCDF) Johnson 110hp outboard. I don't have much info on the trailer other than appears to be standard single-axle trailer.
My concern is on the load weight for my truck. I have a 2000 quad cab Dodge Dakota truck 2WD, which towing capacity is around 3,200#.
Need help to find weight of this model boat, or opinions about towing this boat with truck.
I have towed boat once before with truck, for short distance(20-25 miles) without trouble, but concerned about longer distance hauling.
Thanks for help!

Re: Opinion needed.

Check nada used boat value's, they list the boat weight, loaded with fuel, equiptment + trailer you should be under 3200# with that boat. Remember nada weight is dry weight with out batteries, fuel, trailer or equiptment.

Jim

Re: Opinion needed.

Hey, go to a weigh station and actually weigh it - as "filled" (fuel, gear, etc) as normal when you tow it. Boat and motor weight specs MIGHT be available, but they may or may not be totally accurate, in my experience.

Since you don't have any ID info on the trailer, even with accurate specs on motor and hull, the package becomes a WAG anyway.

Good luck.

Plus, any printed specs don't take into account what you put in the boat (including motor) and are just guesses. This can be several hundred pounds.

So get an actual weight - only costs a couple of bucks and takes a couple of minutes. You can also weigh the actual tongue weight while you're at it, if you want.

Re: Opinion needed.

thanks for the responses I will check into it. I had no problem at all pulling the boat up from landing, which was a rough launch to begin with. Just concerned about transmission overload.
Thanks

Don't know your truck but make sure it has the towing package & if not you will need to add at least a transmission oil cooler (if auto tranny).

"D" has the right solution ,and you will have the correct weight(NO GUESSING or ABOUT)and dont forget to adj. your toung wt. ,that is also important for stability.Good luck

DMT78,

Do not guess...get it weighed. Also, find out exactly what your truck is rated to tow. If you exceed the rated towing capacity of your truck, you will be in a world of legal hurt if you are involved in an accident while towing.
