Hey all,

I run a 14' ex-wide riveted flat (72"beam) with a 48 special, great bayou fishing boat. I want to upgrade boat to a 16' ex-wide, found one with a '89 60 hp rude. He said he just changed the water pump and had carbs cleaned according to the seller just put about a grand into the boat.

My question is although I'm running this 48 spl
it has been rebuilt before I bought it and I'm thinking this 60 hp hasn't been rebuilt yet I wouldn't want to have to rebuilt it after buying it or in the near future. How durable are these engines? He said he mainly used it for duck hunting.

Also what things should be checked when buying a used motor? I would think compression but what other things? and How? Or if it runs ok it's problably ok.

Motor is on a 16' allweld with 68" beam, center console (I'd rather a side console) but he's asking $3000 for the rig with a skipper b trailer.

Thanks,
Beck

Ps: Or do yall think I should just find a boat and trailer and swap my engine?

My goal is to upgrade later to a larger engine.
