Opinion please, Is a 1500W cont/1850 surge generator enough to get a fridge going?

I ran a large 25 cuft fridge with a 1000 Watt Honda generator without a problem. Of course a Honda is probably less likely to over rate their equipment like others might.

Just out of curiosity, since you had the generator there, did you try to run the fridge on it? There could be a next time ya know?

Truthfully, I thought about it, but had so much going on up there that I didn't have much time to myself. The majority of my labor day "vacation" was helping my neighbors clean LOTS of dock sections/pieces off their beaches, assisting my cousin finish off building his screened in porch at his cottage, putting in a temporary dock, and meeting with my neighbors to determine where we can safely send a well drilling rig across their back lot to drill a new well for us. Doing a test run with generator was an afterthought :).

I just got a new flier from Harbor Freight yesterday with a coupon in it that marks the 3050 watt generator I was looking at down to $280 bucks. I may bite, and rotate the little guy in Maine back home to MA for stand-by sump pump duty. Or I may hold out, and get a bigger one that will do 230V so I would be able to power the new well pump. We would need to install a disconnect switch to do that. But considering our vintage 1963 60A fuse panel (thoughtfully located in the kitchen cabinets under the sink ) is maxed out, I see a service upgrade in our future. Shouldn't cost too much extra to throw in a genset connection while the electrical service is being swapped out and relocated. ;)
