Re: Opinions about this truck

Wow Jason, that much?! My 89 250 w/351 gets about 12 rolling downhill with a tailwind. With about 5000 pounds (Tractor)behind it I get about 8. I would get the same whenever I was racing towing cars. My freind's 90 w/460 (Also pulling racecar) would get almost 15 loaded or empty, either way it was the same. On some hills I would have to drop to third and he would just cruise right on by. I'm kinda glad to hear someone is getting good mileage. By the way, I have 373 gears with a 285/75/16 (32 inches tall) and the truck actually gets better milage when I wind it out and hold it there, around 3000 rpm is what it likes best.

Ryan be careful on the 84 vette. I'm fairly new to being into vette's, but I believe the mid 80's vettes are ones to stay away from.

Ryan, good choice to stay away from that truck. It sounds like a great deal. If it had a different tranny, it might have been worth it. With the C6, it is geared low and will suck the crap out of the gas. The C6 is what I have in my F350. It is not a interstate cruiser. It pretty much is running its heart out at 70mph. But mine is a diesel though.

I bought it off of ebay with good results. I haven't had any problems with it at all. If you buy off of ebay, look for a southern vehicle that has not been exposed to the metal eating salt.

I would be leary of the mid 80's vette as well.

That's a good one to stay away from, 4.10 is a low speed rear end. It will eat gas. I've got 4.10 in my truck, but it's a diesel with a 5 speed. 7.5, C6 auto, 4.10, gas mileage would eat you alive.

Hmmm..buying a truck on E-bay...I would not recomend buying any truck without driving it and having it checked out by a mechanic or someone who knows auto's well.
It's a buyers market take your time watch the paper and the Trading times and Auto shoppers even the vermin used car dealers are dealing..
