Morning Gang,

I'm a novice, but very safe boater... And today I'm plan on taking 5 friends out on a local lake for fireworks. The Dane county law enforcement has issued a Slow No Wake from sundown until 12 AM... I think this is a great idea. Madison has hundreds of boats gather in a smaller bay in lake Mendota to view... My plan is to stay out of bay, and after fireworks, wait til craziness has past to retrieve boat. This morning the Severe Storm Prediction center has a slight risk of severe weather forecast across the upper mid-west. Ultimately my only concern is the safety of my guests. I can only imagine if 400-700 boats try and exit a lake if sever weather strikes.. Anyone with more experience have opinions? I've been a trained weather spotter for + 10 years so I'm familiar with how dangerous things can get... My plan for now is to keep up with current weather data, and make the call later this-afternoon as the sun charges up the atmosphere...

Thanks in advance!

you have the correct handle on it. you make the call just prior to launch. you can always end the trip early.
