opinions needed

Hi. New member here but not new to the forums and wakina is my user name, I have lurked for awhile.
My question is: Has anyone used or using an outdrive made by Sterndrive Engineering, Inc. (SEI). Looking for opinions about their products but not just from the SEI company forums. Need to know if you as an owner or former owner have any pros or cons you would care to share with me. Had my outdrive stolen and need to replace it and I am just looking for an alterative option. It will be mounted on a 1990 Mercuriser Alpha 1 Gen. 1 powered with a 5.7L 260 hp. I know I need an SE 106 with a 1.47 to 1 ratio.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,...

Several of the guys here are runnin' SEIs,...

No doubt, the Best Deal in Drives....

Only guys I've ever heard whine about 'em, are Mercruiser Techs who can't sell a Rebuild anymore,...
Too Expensive...

Against what you specifically asked for, I have no first hand knowledge of SEI drives. I did ask the mechanics at the marina I am moored in, and they had many positive comments about them.

Thank you so much for the reply, it certainly was nice of you to go to the trouble of asking those tech's for me! Most in my area of Ohio want to sell either a new or rebuild mercruiser that are at least double the cost of a brand new SEI. So without going into detail you can probably imagine what their reply to me was when I asked them about the SEI.
