By coincidence with this discussion I replaced my points & condenser today. What I do is I have 2 complete point plates so it’s easier to just have it all set up and I just swap them when needed. Then I take the old points & condenser off of the plate I took off & replace with new and it’s ready for the next time.

I just take a whole points dizzy ( pre-installed and timing marked ) in my Capri . It has a 30 year old much abused Allison electronic module that I have been waiting 20 odd years to crap out , been on 3 of my other Escorts before .

We never got the European style Escort in the US but we did get the Ford Capri sold here as a Mercury with a choice of the 1.6 or 2.0 engines.

Ya did so get mk1 escorts in the US I have seen them in movies ( watch out were mad , Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer ) and in the background in Gas monkey .
The Capri also came with the 2.3l ohc in the US
