I have a good running johnson 140 without tnt. I was looking to buy a hull cheap. I ran across a 76 aquasport 19.6 in really good shape. It needs wiring, and cleaning up but it is solid. It also has a 120 johnson vro with tnt. upon inspection the compression is good, the power pack needs replacing, no spark on the bottom two cylinders. I swapped wires with the coils and they didnt fire. The trim motor needs replacing, I'm sure the carbs will need a rebuild. the Teleflex steering cable is frozen and may need to be replaced. There is also a half a tank probably 20 gallons of old fuel in the tank that will need to be disposed of. The boat does not have a title but the guy has a title from another boat I can have to just get the regy sticker. There is also a trailer without title too. it also has a custom enclosure top.
He wanted $1k for it. I just wanted a hull to put my motor on and go. So If I just put my motor on it, I just need to get rid of the fuel, new battery cables, rewire the lights, power wash, bottom paint black (just because it is old blue paint and looks ugly), clean top, and go fish.
I figured I can get the motor running good and either sell it or hold on to it for when mine dies.
What should I offer for it? I was thinking $650. The hull is solid and in great shape, the gelcoat is good and only slightly cracked on the transom corners. Transom is solid. Or should I let it pass and look for something different. I only want to spend under $1k.,
