Opinions on Evinrude 48 Special

I'm going to look at a used Tracker Bass Buggy pontoon boat next week that is being fitted with a 95 Evinrude 48 Special motor.<br /><br />My experience is with Volvo Penta I/O's so this is new to me. I understand it's a motor I'll have to mix the oil and gas which I think is find, but would like to hear some opinions on the motor series if you have any.<br /><br />Usage will be mostly in salt water along the intracoastal waterway.

I have owned an Evinrude 48 Special since 1996. I have had no major issues at all until recently (my fault). I am very pleased with its performance and longevity.

I have a 48 spl and it's the best motor I have ever had, simple easy to work on and reliable.
