Hi all, I have posted here in the past and read postings all the time but due to lack of activity my account was dropped so I have the new rating. I am currently looking at a couple of "new/used" (read that "team" or "memo" boat) bass boats. One in particular is a 2005 with a 175hp 2005 V-Max HPDI that will have about 50 to 60 hours on it at time of sale. I have no experience with these motors and would like to get as much feedback as possible from the board. As with the Opti's I have read the reports of failures and problems on the older motors but nothing of late. I know our friend "Rodbolt" has made mention of problems on the big block yammies but where does the "big block" configuration start? How about the 175's? Most of the things I have been able to find on my searches deals with 150's or 225's. Aside from the standard "having the motor checked out" what should I look for if/when I go check it out? Should I insist on a diagnostic printout? Maintenance-wise, what am I getting myself into?<br />My only previous experiences with outboards are with a blown up Johnrude 50 (my first boating mistake) and my current motor which is an '02 Merc 4-stroke EFI 50hp which has been absolutely trouble free.
