Looking at a 1982 - Bayliner 22' Trophy with a hard top. Has just had the bottom professionally redone * has 4 batteries with 2 switches * newer fish finder - radio - compass & some cool exterior spotlights. New shift cable - new impeller - new bellow boot & U joint - has live wells with new pumps - on board was down system - refrig - porti pot - sleeps 3 .

Pictures show this to be a very very clean looking boat - come with trailer

Anybody have this particular model of Bayliner? I realize that the power is lacking - but I am not looking for speed

Whole package can be had for $5,000 cash

Thoughts?

for an 17 year old boat, Bayliner, i think it may be high. you really need to check for soft spots in the deck and transom.

NADA lists the average vaule for that boat at $1500 with a 4 cylinder, $2500 with a V6 and no options.

The engine is a Volvo model - AQ125 - Outdrive - Volvo 270 - Now I know that outdrive is bullet proof - not sure on a 4cylinder with 125 horses - hours are 430

If it's really a 1982 then I think $5k is way too much for a 26 yr old Bay with only a 4 cylinder.

Re: Opinions Please

I would pass. The engine and outdrive are good but they are not powerfull. I had a 19" Cuddy with the same setup and I think I hit 30mph once. It is not a 125 HP engine either. There is an AQ125A and B. I believe the strongest of the 2 is around 115hp.

Also if you are not familiar with the 270 outdrive it has tilt but not trim. What this means is that it will not lock in reverse and backing is tricky because the outdrive will pop up as you apply throttle.

Bullet proof? They are great engines but there are a lot of years on that one.

Re: Opinions Please

Some real wisdom has been dispensed here by some very knowledgeable individuals. & wow holy Sh*t no trim backing up & the drive could pop up - that sounds damaging.

I have decided to pass on this boat & will continue the quest. There is much to choose from that's for sure

Kind regards to all that posted to my thread
