Opinions,please

Ok guys.First off,I am a mercury fan(older ones).I do not intend to bash or anything.To each their own.Anyways,what I am looking for are opinions on the new 250 SHO 4 stroke.My cousin has a z21 ranger w/mercury 250 pro xs(2007).Just got a brand new powerhead from mercury installed after no.6 cylinder went(under warranty,THANK GOD!).He now wants to sell his boat and is wanting to buy a brand new ranger w/the yamaha 250 SHO.I know there were bugs causing them to blow at first,but was told by a flw yamaha guy who owns a boat shop where my cousin services his boat that its been worked out and no issues w/the new ones.I know theres no data on reliability as theyre brand new.Just wondering if anyone on here owns one and any issues they might have had so far.Thats just an awful lot of dough to be dropping on a very new(not really,shall we say,battle tested) motor.Thanks for any/all replies.have a great day!

The SHO is a beast, they have lightened the weight tremendously and the technology is not new it has been in the racing industry for a while (Block). Puts the Pro XS and the Verado to shame in both performance and fuel economy. And it is a Yamaha, so what are you worried about!

never seen a blown SHO engine.
who told you about bugs?
so far the F250,the F250B nd the 250SHO models have been about bullit proof, unless you overheat them.
that they dont like.
