Does anyone know what comes with mercury driveshaft for 200hp DFI Optimax, tore up the forward and pinion gear an when doing the replace I have the pain in tail lower unit where you have to remove the drive shaft to get the prop shaft out. when I removed it I saw the metal chunks from the forward and pinion gears got sucked up in the driveshaft receiver and shredded my tapered bearings and my bearing assembly roller. according to the parts catalog I can get the bearing assembly roller but the tapered bearing that directly attach (pressed on I assume) are not sold separately. before I spend $360 for a new drive shaft and another $40 for the roller bearing I wanted to check with you all to see what all comes with the drive shaft are the tapered bearings already pressed on is the bearing assembly roller included a well or can I actually find the tapered bearing somewhere (if so what's the part number mine has 2) and press them on myself. I really appreciate everyone's help and any knowledge you all can spare. Thanks.

You cant just slap new gears and driveshaft in as it will all need to be clearance checked /reshimmed or it will crap gears again.

Thanks Faztbullet, I am aware that I have to reshim for clearance with the lower partial rebuild but that doesn't answer the question I have, If I had $4500 bucks I would just buy a new lower, if I had the money to pay a mechanic to do the rebuild for me I would, I have to do this myself. being a do-it-yourselfer I was looking for an answer to my question, if I can by the tapered bearing and shims where do I buy them and what are the parts number because the parts catalog does not have a parts number for them because they are not sold separately. if I can just buy the bearings and press them on the drive shaft it would save me a ton of money but their is no way to know what the exact part number is because the merc part catalog does not list them. thanks.
